The week at Talca has come to an end. There will soon be a farewell lunch and then travel to the airport.
It has truly been a rewarding week for the team and the local church. The best part of the trip was to renew the friendships, soak in the fellowship, and be smothered with love. Then there will be the added five pounds from all of the food that we were fed. There hospitality is unmatched.
We worked all five days. The weather for the first three was surprisingly mild for Talca. Thursday and Friday the temperature and humidity head back to normal, HOT and HUMID! Today it is raining! I did not think that it rained here at all in late summer. One of the church people said that Talca is crying because we are leaving.
God had the size of our team just right. There were two workers from the church, Felipe, and the four of us. Once we had our system nailed down, we became very efficient. We will leave here knowing that we definitely made a significant contribution to the construction. Next week there will only be the two workers, Pablo and Richard. It may not be possible to continue the stucco work with only two people. In retrospect, staying a second week would have been very beneficial. We do not know what we would have done to keep a CCC team of 8-10 occupied and productive.
There have been many inquiries about the rest of the folks from last year’s team. I have been blessed by being able to meet in the houses of several of last year’s host families. They all have our team pictures on display. I also sent them individual photos that I took during the trip. All had those proudly on display as well.
Of course there are many more things to share when we are back in the U.S.
Adios from Talca,
Gerry
