Talca Update

The other day I had a great conversation with Felipe from Talca. It was kind of funny as we began the conversation. I was sitting in an air-conditioned house with outside temps over 100 degrees and he was in his home with a jacket on and rain could be heard outside with 40 degree temps. So it is when you have friends in the Southern Hemisphere. All is well there. They continue to plug away at the construction progress. It has been slow and difficult for two main reasons--weather and competition. Right now it is the rainy season with low temperatures. Both of these have combined to make working on a steel frame difficult. Also, there is a tremendous amount of construction going on in Talca after the earthquake of 2010. They are building a new hospital, new homes, new malls, etc. The Talca church has to compete with all this construction going on and they seem to be a low priority. Not in God's eyes. Thru His help and patience provided by Him, they will see this project to completion. Felipe shared of a recent student ministry retreat to an outlying area. The students at the Talca church along with similar aged people from the other Alliance church in Talca and from the rural church got together for a tremendous weekend retreat recently. Lives were changed and they have been energized to serve God and His Kingdom. Amen!! We discussed a future trip to Talca to continue to strengthen our partnership and to help them with the construction some more. More to come on this soon.
