Talca Trip 2013

In less than one week a group from Centerville Community Church will return to Talca, Chile to work alongside our partners in rebuilding their church.  The group leaves Friday, February 8th and returns on the 17th.  Please keep them in your prayers.  Follow the trip here on this blog.

First Service in Partially Constructed Talca Church

The Talca church construction is moving along steadily.  They have decided to continue to raise funds without obtaining a loan (high interest rates).  They are relying on faith and God's goodness in this effort.  Recently they did have a service in the new "building".  You can view some pictures on the Centerville Community Church Facebook page:

"the church had a special reunion outside. On construction, is common to do a bbq when the roof is settle. So the construction team ask for a special meeting, and we share a meal after that. Great day because people could felt how the place would be, it was really nice. God is good!" - Felipe

Talca Trip - Feb 2013

The Talca church has given us a very affirmative response that they would like another team from our church to come to Chile. They would like it to be for one week and at the same time of the year, the beginning of February. As I look at the calendar, we would leave on Friday, February 1. We would leave Chile on Friday or Saturday, February 8 or 9 (arriving in the U.S. on the 9th or 10th).
 
They have commented that their construction is proceeding very slowly. While they are not yet sure of the type of work that we would be doing, based on their progress I would assume that it will be heavier manual labor.

Tour de Donut for Talca

Tour de Donut for Talca A team of 5 cyclists from Centerville Community Church rode in the Tour de Donut on Saturday, Sept 8th. It is a unique "race" where 5 minutes is deducted from your time for every donut you eat. There are two donut stops in the 30 mile race. CCC was challenged to raise money for our partner church in Talca. In return the cyclists would consume more donuts as more money came in. We raised over $1200 and the team consumed 27 donuts during the race. Thanks to all those who donated money. Keep praying for Talca!

Trip Postponed Until 2013

Due to a a few factors, the next trip to Talca will be postponed until early 2013. Please continue to pray for the rebuilding efforts of the Talca church and for the church's continued outreach to the community.

Talca Trip in late October

Plans for another Talca Trip are tentatively set for late October. Thi swill be a time to continue building our partnership and relationships as well as assist with the construction. More info to come including a meeting in early August. For more info contact Gerry Socha at sochagk@earthlink.net.
